Mary Lou Farren Gourley
Beloved wife, daughter, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, cousin and friend passed away on May 30, 2017 from multiple myeloma. Mary Lou was born on December 19, 1935 to John and Alliene Gatley Farren in Lark Utah. She was raised in Eureka, Utah and graduated from Tintic High School.
She married LeRoy L. Gourley on July 16, 1955. They had four children, Gary, Jerry, Lee and Tammie, and her son-in-law Kay and daughter-in-law Deb.
Mary Lou was the “lunch lady” for the Tintic school district. She enjoyed cooking for the school children and loved them all dearly. She was well known for her cooking, especially her mustard pickles, rolls and her grandkids favorite potato salad.
Mary Lou loved dancing with her husband and camping with her family and friends. One of their favorite places to go was fish lake. Mary Lou enjoyed many years as a Lady Elk in the Tintic Elks Lodge. She also enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz and was a University of Utah fan. Mary Lou loved her trips to Wendover with her sister Linda.
Mary Lou’s greatest accomplishment was her family, she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all of her heart. If you asked which grandchild was her favorite, each one would say “me”. She made each and every one of them feel special and loved.
Mary Lou was a member of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by her four children, grandchildren, Jennifer, Ryan, Jacob, Mike, Dustin, Traci, Tony, Justin, Brody, Heather and Kaylee and 16 precious great grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sister Linda (Chuck), brother John (Michelle), sister-in-law Brenda (John).
Proceeded in death by her husband Roy and parents John and Alliene, her parent-in-law’s LeRoy and Erma Gourley, brother and sister-in-law’s Buddy and Carol Gourley.
Graveside services will be held at the Eureka Utah cemetery on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM for all family and friends. A celebration of life will follow at the Eureka Elks Lodge.
