Billie Rae Pomeroy passed away on Jan. 5, 2009, in Tooele, surrounded by her family. Mom fought a courageous battle with lung cancer. Billie was born Jan. 29, 1934, in Tooele to J. Lloyd and Louise Callister. She graduated from Tooele High School in 1952. She worked at Tooele High School as a secretary for 23 years, where she made numerous friends and had many great memories of her time there. She married Carsten C. Pomeroy on May 8, 1954 in Elko, Nev. Mom was a great supporter of her sons in their athletic activities and she was so proud of their achievements. We also appreciate all of the support, hard work and love she gave to Guy and Tim during their business endeavor with Vine Street Market (Mom counted the cash while Dad mopped the floors). Mom loved spending time in Wendover, rooting for the Jazz and cussing Jerry. She is survived by her husband, Carsten; sons Guy C. Pomeroy (Lori) and Tim L. Pomeroy; two granddaughters Matti Z. Pomeroy and Micall G. Pomeroy; sisters Betty Dunn, Beverly Macari (Joe) and Gloria Callister; brother in law Chuck Anderson and sister in law Sharon Callister. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Lloyd, her son Gregg L. Pomeroy, sister Pat Anderson, brother Gary Callister and brother in law Melvin Dunn. Per moms request, there will be no funeral service. A gathering for family and friends was held Friday, Jan. 9 at Tate Mortuary in Tooele, Utah. Interment will be at a later date at Tooele City Cemetery. Many sincere thanks to the staff and doctors at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. We would also like to thank the ICU staff at Mountain West Medical Center in Tooele. A special thanks to her sisters and mother for all their love and support. A special thanks also to her loving friends who supported her during this trying time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Billies name.
