Vearis Anderson Orgill Lisenbee

Vearis Anderson Orgill Lisenbee passed away at the age of 91 on Jan. 17, 2009, in Tooele from causes incident to age. She was born June 22, 1917, in Grantsville, the eighth of 10 children of John William and Janet Hale Anderson. She grew up working with her siblings on her fathers farm and attending Grantsville schools, where her interests included sports, fashion, dancing, drama and arts and crafts. After high school graduation in 1935 she lived and worked in Wendover, Utah, where she met Willis Leslie Orgill. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on May 14, 1937, and resided in Wendover, Grantsville and Salt Lake City. Four sons were born to this union. During World War II the little family resided briefly in Lexington Park, Md. After the war they returned to Grantsville. The couple divorced in 1949 and Vearis was left to raise four sons on her own. She worked for many years at the school lunchroom in Grantsville and as custodian at her ward chapel. Despite emotional, physical and financial hardships she had to overcome she was always a wonderful loving and caring mother to her sons, providing for them, and everyone else she knew, with a magnificent example of faith, obedience, kindness, forgiveness, service and hard work. In June of 1967 she married Ellwood Clyde Lisenbee, who had lost his first wife, Fern, to cancer. She inherited two more children with this marriage, a son LeRoy and daughter Janet Walk, along with several more grandchildren and great grandchildren. Vearis and Ellwood spent many happy years together until his death in 1983, after which she devoted herself to church work and to caring for her rapidly growing family. She leaves behind an unmatched legacy of love, faith, honor, charity and goodness. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by a sister Mary Ila (Earl) Flinders; sons Joel Ivan (Lynne), Dennis Ryan (Judy), Glenn Alan (Lois) and Von Dean (Sherri); 28 grandchildren; 73 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and unnumbered nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 24. Interment Grantsville City Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to charity.
