LaWona Coombs

LaWona Coombs, 79, returned home to her Heavenly Father and her sweetheart, Wilbur on Feb. 14, 2009. Her family surrounded her the last few days of her life. She was born Aug. 20, 1929 in Tremonton, Utah to Ivan and Fauntabelle Hansen and was the oldest of four children. She married Wilbur Lynn Coombs on July 16, 1947 in the Manti Temple. Together, they raised 5 children, 1 girl and 4 boys.
LaWona was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was also an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She served in the Salt Lake Temple and enjoyed every minute she spent in the Lord’s house. She also worked for 20 years as a billing supervisor in a migrant clinic located in Fort Lupton, Colorado.
LaWona enjoyed spending time with their family and loved traveling in a car so she could admire the beauty of the world around her. Her favorite time of day was morning when the world was new and bright.
LaWona is survived by her daughter Debra (Eldon) Hawkins, son Randy (Kaila) Coombs, son Robert (Linda) Coombs, son Jeff (Cindy) Coombs along with sisters Colleen (Derrell) Westbrook, Beth 9Elder) Schwitzer, and a brother Larry Hansen. She was blessed with 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren with three on the way and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 19, 11:00 am at the Carr Fork Ward Building, 2053 N Churchwood Drive in Pine Canyon. A viewing wi be held there from 9:00 too 10:30 am before the funeral service begins. A graveside service will be held at the Hillside Cemetery located in Fort Lupton, Colorado o Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009.

Dear Family : My name is Susan and I started working for LaWona when I was 14 years old. She taught me all about Billing and Life. She also put up with me just like I was one of her own. She was a great lady and I’ll never forget her and Wilbur.
