Elden LaVern Stewart

stewarteldenElden LaVern Stewart, 80, passed away quietly, Friday, May 8, 2009. He is preceded in death by his parents Angus and Nancy Stewart, and his step father Evan Reusch as well as his two older brothers Max and Loyd Stewart. He is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Irene and his children, Alma (Kim), and Crystal (Shawna) both of Tooele, and Audrey, address unknown He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mindi Hunter and her two children Jason and Apryl, Cami, Airica, Lizzi, Kieson, Ciara, all of Tooele and Sarah Kate Stewart of DeCatur Georgia. Elden was born December 21, 1928 to Angus and Nancy Stewart in Fairview, Utah where he grew up roaming the hills, hunting and fishing. He attended North Sanpete High School and after graduation went to Snow College where he obtained an associates degree before moving on to attend BYU. On December 21, 1955 he married Irene Cox of Shelly Idaho in the Idaho Falls Temple. They lived in Provo for a few years while Elden finished his education and was hired to teach school in Tooele where they have lived since. Elden taught elementary school in Tooele County District for 14 years, two of them in Ibapah before leaving teaching and working at Tooele Army Depot until he retired. His great loves in life were hunting and fishing and just being in the mountains. He also truly loved doing missionary work for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of which he was a member. Elden was a talented artist and writer and he frequently entered and won local writing and poetry contests. He’s finally free of the burdens of illness and a broken down body, and happy to see his parents and loved ones who have gone on before, and waiting patiently for those still here to join him there, we love and miss you Dad. Viewing will be held Wednesday morning, May 13th from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the 10th ward building located at 196 North Pinehurst, Tooele. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 at the same location. Interment will be at the Tooele Cemetery.
