Marjorie Gillette

gillettemarjorieMarjorie Gillette, age 82, died Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the Woodland Park Care Center in Salt Lake City of causes incident to age.  Marjorie, known to family and friends as “Marj”, was born on Thursday, May 24, 1927 in Tooele, Utah. She grew up in Tooele and graduated from Tooele High School.  After attending Brigham Young University from 1945 until 1948, Marjorie moved to Salt Lake City where she spent the rest of her life. She worked for many years for Chicago Bridge and Iron until they closed. After that she worked for a while at a call center and finally as a school crossing guard. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved to sing in the choir.  Marjorie was the youngest child of Perry C. and Minnie Viola Hardy Gillett. Her three brothers, Perry (Vonda) Gillette, John (June) Gillette, and Arthur (Bernita) Gillette all preceded her in death. She is survived by her older sister, Arlene (Roland) Smith of Soda Springs, Idaho and by numerous nieces and nephews.  Services were held on Monday July 20th and Interment (together with the ashes of her beloved cat Sam) was in the Tooele City Cemetery.
