daltonrolandOn July 31, 2009, Roland Ward Dalton, age 68, of Tooele, Utah, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home. Roland was born November 29, 1940, in Circleville, Utah, to Ward B. and Mary Simkins Dalton. He married Maurine Robinson, August 21, 1959 in Circleville, Utah. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His pride and joy was his family who surrounded him with love throughout his life. His greatest joy was spending time with his kids and grandkids. Being surrounded by his loving family brought happiness and purpose to his life. His second greatest love was watching sports. His favorite teams were the Colorado Rockies, Utah Jazz, BYU Cougars and the Utah Ute’s. Special thanks to Millie who cared for our father for 18 years and for Darin & Dr. Holt who were available when needed. We are also grateful to Hospice of Utah for easing the final transition of our father. He is survived by his wife Maurine, two sons, Roland (Liz) Dalton, Tooele; Greg (Clarissa) Dalton, Tooele; and one daughter, Claudia (Mike) Merino, Tooele; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his mother Mary Dalton, Circleville; one sister, Elouise Coates, Kingston; three brothers, Howard Dalton, St. George; Ross Dalton, Yuma; and Russell Dalton, Cedar City. He was preceded in death by his father, Ward Dalton and sister, Kathleen James. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 5, at 11 a.m. in Tooele Middle Canyon Ward LDS Chapel. Friends may call at the Tate Mortuary in Tooele on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the ward chapel in Tooele on Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Tooele Cemetery.
