1920-2009
GRANTSVILLE- Roland Guy Smith passed away Aug. 15, 2009 at 89 years young. Roland was born May 8, 1920 in Lincoln, Utah to George W. and Mabel Smith. He was the eleventh of thirteen children. Roland was the last surviving member of this family. Married Val Johnson Dec. 31, 1941 in Grantsville, Utah, eight days later he left to serve in the Army Air Corp for his country during World War II. Marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1944. Roland retired from US Lime. He loved gardening, sharing his harvest; tinkering; and animals. He possessed a remarkable memory and an unforgettable sense of humor. Roland is survived by his wife Val and four daughters, Myra (Douglas) Millward, Colleen (Bob) Johnson, Lola (Steve) Larson, and Billie (Rob) Brown. 15 Grandchildren and 24 Great-Grandchildren. Funeral Services will be at 11 AM, Wednesday Aug. 19, 2009 in the Clark 2nd Ward Chapel, 81 No Church Street, Grantsville Ut. Visitations will be Tuesday Aug. 18, 2009 from 6-8 PM at Tate Mortuary, 110 So. Main Tooele, Ut, and Wednesday 9:30-10:30 at the Church prior to services. Interment, Grantsville City Cemetery.
