Carl Voss

Carl Henry Voss passed away on Oct. 2, 2009. He was born May 24, 1926 in San Leandro, Calif. Carl is survived by his wife of 57 years Sally; children Clifford (Cheryl) of Stockton, Utah; Caren (Chuck) of McAlester, Okla.; Mary (Colleen) of West Valley, Utah; and Carl Jr (Shannon) of Castle Rock, Colo.; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. After graduating from high school Carl joined the U.S. Navy in May 1943 and served for a total of nine years. Carl worked at Benicia Arsenal, Calif. and later transferred to Tooele Army Depot in 1962. Carl retired from the depot in 1984 and soon afterwards began a second career of active volunteer work. Several of the organizations he volunteered for were the Tooele Senior Citizen Center, Tooele Police Senior Patrol, New Reflections, Meals on Wheels, VFW Post 9413 and as a youth suicide counselor. Carl was a true patriot to his country and community both. He along with his sons and grandsons served in all branches of our military services. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved the grand mountains of Utah in particular. “Carl was a Jack of all trades”
