PaulosJohnOur loving father John A. Paulos passed away at home Thursday, October 15, 2009. He was born June 2, 1922 to Charlie and Anna Paulos. He married Helen D. Jones October 29, 1947. He graduated from Tooele High and attended Utah State University. He enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II. John and his brothers owned and operated Paulos Motor Co. until his retirement in 1981. His love of sports encompassed basketball, baseball, bowling, and golf. He played forward for the Tooele High School’s basketball team and pitched for Elko’s Triple A baseball. In his later years, he enjoyed playing golf with his sons and many friends. He was a devoted member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. He attained the positions of Exalted Ruler, District Deputy, and State Elks President. During his year as State Elks President, he helped promote and develop Camp Wapiti, and served on the board of directors. He was a 32° Mason, a Shriner, and served twice as Worthy Patron of Tooele Valley Chapter #25 of the Order of Eastern Star. He is survived by his wife Helen and four children, Gregory John (Jeannine), Michael Lee (Tonnie), Anna Marett (Michael), John Christopher, six grand children, one great grandchild and his brother Bill. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Jim, Ernie, and Gus. A visitation will be held Sunday, October 18th, 6-8 pm, at Tate’s Mortuary Chapel, 110 S Main St., Tooele, Utah. Funeral services are Monday, October 19th at 12:00 Noon at Tate Mortuary with Interment at Tooele City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, John expressed donations to be made to Camp Wapiti through Tooele Elks Lodge #1673 or charity of your choice.
