Funeral service for Willard G. Atkin. Jr. was held on Saturday Feb 20, 2010. Willard passed away Monday, Feb 15,2010. He was the fourth child born to Willard G. Atkin and Lydia Ethel Tuttle on July 8, 1919. He was a descendant of early Tooele Pioneers. He was educated in Tooele Schools graduating with the class of 1939. He served an LDS Mission to the Northwestern States and was on Vancouver Island. BC at the time of the attack at Pearl Harbor. He served in the army, 7th Calvary Armored Division, Pacific Theater on the islands of Okinawa, Saipan, Taiwan, Mekin Islands and Japan. He graduated from Utah State University. While there met and married Edna Beth Workman, Apri1 9, 1947, in the Manti, Temple. Theirs was a happy union. He began his teaching career in Milford, Utah. Taught at Delta High School, Granite High School, Valley Junior High retiring from Tooele High School. He was a famer, carpenter and great family man.  Active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints his whole life. He loved the gospel and fulfilled many church positions. He and Beth served together in the New York, New York mission and as temple workers in the Salt Lake Temple. Life Member and past President of the Utah Sons of the Pioneers. He was instrumental in establishing the monument at the Tooele Library and Hilda Ericksen Monument in Grantsville. Our loving. patient father is survived by his wife and children. Willard Kent and Niki, Rocklin, Ca., Barbara Ann Lay and Henry, Vancouver Wa., Kenneth Dean and Deone, Tooele, Ut, Marilyn Spencer, St. George, Ut. Doug and Karen. Stansbury Park, Ut. and Lauralee Nebeker and Kris, Highland Ut. ; 24 grandchildren. 27 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Tom Atkin, Provo, UT.sisters; Cynthia Scott, Provo, Ut, Alene Black, Magna, Ut., Annie Harvey, Tooele, Ut. Preceded in death by his parents, sisters Telma, Mary and Lydia and sons David Ray and Richard Lee.
