Ann Hancock Stephenson
1958 – 2010

Our wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend, Ann Hancock Stephenson, 51, died July 1,2010, at her home in Tooele Utah. Through the many thoughts and prayers offered on her behalf, Ann was allowed to peacefully return to a loving Father in Heaven in whom Ann’s testimony has strengthened so many. She was born July 10, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Hal and Cornella Hancock. Ann was the fifth of nine children. She graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1976. On May 6, 1977, she married David E.  Stephenson in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Ann was the proud mother of 6 children to whom she devoted  her life. In the spring of 1986, Ann was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, while living in Salmon Idaho where she lived for 7 years. In 1988 Ann and her family moved to West Jordan where she lived for 17 years. Ann spent many years volunteering and serving others afflicted with MS in an effort to help ease their burdens and help provide them with hope. Many thanks to all who helped her in this great cause through Walk/Bike MS throughout many states. Special thanks for all those who have contributed their time and money, to help in our fight against this difficult disease. In 1998 Ann was recognized as the Salt Lake City MS Volunteer of the year. In 1999 Ann was awarded the MS Champion of the year award in recognition of her efforts in fighting MS in her community and state. In 2006 Ann and her family moved to Tooele Utah. Her interests included music, artwork, ceramics, gardening, bottling fruits and vegetables, and watching the Utah Jazz. Her livelihood focused on her family, friends, and those she served in the church most notably her young women. Her greatest lesson taught to those around her has been that “It’s not about what trials come our way. What matters in this life is what we do with our time. Since none of us know how much time we have, we better make every single day count”. Our deepest thanks to all who helped care for Ann in many different ways throughout her life. Survivors include her husband of 33 years, David E. Stephenson of Tooele; children include, David A. (Alisa) Stephenson of Tooele, Michael (Melina) Stephenson of Tooele, Jerid Stephenson of Illinois, Christopher Stephenson of Salt Lake, Alicia (Ryan) Pehrson of West Jordan, Kelcey Ann Stephenson of Tooele; parents include, Hal and Cornella Hancock of Taylorsville; siblings include, Susan Bale of Grantsville, Art Hancock of Riverton, Colette Waters of Salt Lake, Aaron Hancock of Virginia, Lisa Bagley of West Jordan, John Hancock of Sandy, Doug Hancock of West Jordan, Jody Burningham of Herriman; grandchildren include: DJ Stephenson, Camille Stephenson, Mikaela Stephenson, Miguel Stephenson, Kohen Lindsay, and Lydia Pehrson.
