Stephen C. Stam, 47, left this earthly home Aug. 24 at his home in Tooele. He was born in Fremont, Calif., Aug. 26, 1962 to Tom and Marge Stam, later moving with the family to Grantsville where he attended Grantsville schools. He displayed an early affinity for mechanics and frequently was seen with his head under the hood of someone’s car in the driveway. His greatest hobby was building and flying model airplanes. Along with his brother, Gary, he entered many contests and won many prizes. Steve’s favorite job was driving the Tooele County school bus where he endeared himself to so many of the students. Steve married Danica, from this marriage Jennifer, Amanda and Kristina were born. Later divorced. Second marriage was to Margaret Herrera, with step children Ashley and Nicolas. Later divorced. Steve had a hilarious sense of humor. People naturally were drawn to him and to his giving attitude. Although plagued by many obstacles and constant pain, he had an indomitable spirit. Steve is survived by his parents, sister Wendy Waller and brother Gary; children and stepchildren; and grandchild Stephanie Coughman. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 11 a.m. in Grantsville City Cemetery.
