Joseph Rabun Jernigan, 69, passed away August 17, 2018 at his home in Tooele, Utah. He was born July 20, 1949 in Savannah, Georgia to James Pershing Jernigan Sr. and Carrie Fender Jernigan. His siblings include James Pershing Jernigan Jr., Carol Grace Collier, and Jerry Michael Jernigan. He graduated from Richard Arnold High School in 1967 and later attended trade schools for electronics and networking. He served in the Navy, spending time in both Japan and Vietnam. On March 11, 1995, Joseph married Janet Carmella Breit in Salt Lake City, Utah. Joseph was a wonderful husband and father, and served his family his whole life. He was a loyal employee, a faithful member of his church, and enjoyed spending his time with computers, reading, boating, fishing, and riding motorcycles and side-by-sides.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Janet Breit Jernigan. Children, Joseph Jernigan Jr., Wade McCoy, and Seth McCoy. Grandchildren, Raif McCoy, Quintan McCoy, and Aiden Qualls. Brother, Jerry Jernigan, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; his siblings; Carol Collier (sister,) James P. Jernigan, Jr. (brother), his daughter; Rebecca Jernigan and his son; Aaron John McCoy.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the LDS Chapel located at 1030 South 900 West, Tooele, with a prior visitation from 5:30 – 6:00 PM.
