Lawrence (Larry) Martin Deegan

July 25, 1942 ~ December 26, 2018 (age 76)

Lawrence Martin Deegan (Larry), known as; Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and Friend was born July 25, 1942 in Edgerton, Wisconsin and passed away peacefully on December 26th, 2018 in Erda, Utah from complications due to Esophageal Cancer.   Larry was the son of Frank Wilbert Deegan and Marion Ethel Boyer.  Larry grew up in Wisconsin working on the family farm.  He was active in 4-H, winning a trophy for Tractor Maintenance and was chosen to spend six weeks with the 4-H exchange program in Colorado.  He graduated from Johnson Creek High School, class of 1960, where he lettered in football.  He married Shirley Ann Landgraf, together they had Dee Ann and Lu Ann, and later divorced.  He was married to Bobbie Ann Frank and was later divorced.

 After graduating from an Electrical Program in Milwaukee, Wisconsin he joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Union 494 (IBEW).  His career took him and his family from Wisconsin, to Maryland, Florida, Texas and finally to Utah.   

After retiring in 2002, he spent his summers in Aurora, Utah and winters in Bouse, Arizona.  He loved horseback riding beginning with his first horse “Squint” and continued riding throughout his life, enjoying many mountain trips with his friends, Dennis Mason and Glen Lewis.  Larry and his friends Steve Luoma and Judy Brainerd broke in several 4-Wheelers discovering new trails and sites in Arizona during the winter months.  He enjoyed hunting Deer in Wisconsin and Elk hunting in Utah.He had a passion for motorcycles beginning with his first Triumph in the 60’s to his full dress Harley Davidson’s in the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and beyond.  He never shirked from a motorcycle road trip, making several trips from coast to coast, visiting Sturgis, South Dakota and Daytona Beach, Florida a time or two. 

He participated in the National Pony Express Association annual re-ride for several years, with his grandson Raymond.  He enjoyed riding the route; east or west, in the deserts or mountains, while carrying the mail.

Larry is survived by his daughters; Dee Ann Marie (Scott) Parry and LuAnn Sue Olson.  Grandchildren; Raymond (Holli) Miles, Melissa (Sunne) Couvrette, Jo Dee (Skylar) Morrill, Mike (Cierra) Johnson, Connor Olson and Landon Olson. Great-Grandchildren; Drey, Kye and Kash Couvrette, Taytum Johnson, Oak Morrill and Amanda Parry. His siblings include: Joyce (Lou) Marot, Cindy Deegan and, Brian (Kimberly) Deegan as well as his beloved nieces and nephews Francis (Joe) Deegan, Peter (Vicky) Duchrow, Vicki Duchrow (Rusty Smith), Travis Arends, Penny (Brian) George, Leslie (Ryan) Velderman, Margie Marot.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marion, James Paul Deegan (nephew) and Brylee Ann Couvrette (great-grand daughter).

A service will be held at Tate Mortuary, Saturday, December 29th, beginning with a viewing from 10:30am - 11:45am followed by a Memorial Service at Noon.  Interment to be held at the Tooele City Cemetery following the Service.
