Terry Howell

June 25, 1949 ~ December 25, 2018 (age 69)

Terry Howell slipped peacefully from mortality on Christmas Day 2018 following a twenty year battle with cancer.   He was born June 25, 1949 in Mount Pleasant, Utah to Silas Vail Howell and Alice Irene Jensen Howell.   He spent his first 18 years in Fairview, Utah.  He attended Fairview Elementary, North Sanpete Junior High in Moroni, and North Sanpete High School in Mount Pleasant.

In 1968 during the Vietnam War, Terry enlisted in the United States Air Force.  He was stationed in Texas, California and Panama where he worked in base operations. Following his honorable release from the military, Terry briefly attended Utah Valley Technical College in Provo, then was hired at the Tooele Army Depot where he worked in equipment maintenance. 

It was in Tooele where he met his wife, Candace Lee Maddox.  They were married  September 30, 1977 in the Salt Lake Temple.   Terry later worked for Kennecott Copper in Copperton, and for Donna’s Tours in Salt Lake City.

In 1997 Terry was in an unfortunate car/truck collision from which he suffered many physical repercussions and memory loss. 

Terry was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints He served in elders quorums, as a ward nursery assistant for 18 years, and as a temple worker in the Salt Lake Temple.

Terry is survived by his wife, Candy of Tooele, and brothers Sharon (Sylvia) Howell of Fairview, Owen Howell (Joyce) of Mount Pleasant, Leonard Howell (Lin)of Provo, and Steven Howell (Debra) of Salt Lake City.   He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Helen Howell and Larene Carlock, and brother Donald Howell. 

Our family expresses deep appreciation to the staff of Holladay Health Care whose assistance was caring and compassionate and to ward members and neighbors whose help and ministering service has been consistent and thoughtful.

A memorial service for Terry will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 5th at the   Tooele 8th Ward chapel at 196 N Pinehurst Avenue (about 250 East) in Tooele.  A time for sharing condolences will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
