Colleen Mead Obituary (1927 - 2020)

Colleen L. Mead 9/22/1927 - 12/1/2020 Colleen L. Mead age 93 passed away peacefully at her home in Tooele, UT, with her loved one’s present. She died from the progressive effects of Dementia. Colleen was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as well as The Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She worked her entire career in nursing, specializing in psychiatric care which she also taught and retired as Director of Nursing in San Jose, CA., where her and her husband John D. Mead worked and raised their 5 beloved girls. Lillian (Delmer) Hughes of Shelly, ID, Linda (Richard) Cox of Watsonville, CA, Lora Leigh (Stephen) Drescher of Modesto, CA, Leslie Mead of Tooele, UT. Also survived by 14 Grandchildren who all adored her. Shortly before her passing, she was surrounded by her daughters for one last hooray of love and affection felt for her by her entire legacy. After her husband John passed, she embarked on what became a 25-year mission in Salt Lake City where she met numerous friends and helped many more in a variety of callings from tabernacle usher to employment specialist. What Colleen held dearest in life was her faith, testimony, family and a box of good chocolates. Due to Covid-19 restrictions her girls will have a private family memorial and she will be laid to rest next to her husband, in Fremont, CA. In lieu of flowers or other offerings she would wish for us all to be kind to our neighbors and love one another.
