Michael Wayne Begay passed away on June 23, 2021, at his home in Stansbury Park, Utah at the age of 52 from diabetes and heart failure. He was born to Henry and Sharon Begay in Murray, Utah on January 9, 1969. He was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attended Riverview Jr. high, Murray high school, Salt Lake Community College, and Phoenix University. While in high school he participated in track, cross country, and football. He married Tracy Begay in 1997, they had four beautiful daughters. His favorite things to do were play basketball, softball, going to the zoo, Thanksgiving Pointe, and the aquarium. He loved Halloween, family birthday parties, and 3-day work holidays to spend with family. He was also a co-leader in the Girl Scouts of Utah. He loved sci-fi movies, all Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, video games like, W.O.W., Halo, Star Wars, Mass Effect, and any first-person shooter game. He loved music and his favorite bands were Depeche Mode, Chicago, Van Halen, and any 80’s pop and 70’s rock. Michael was a proud Marine and Army veteran, earning many awards including, Rifle Sharpshooter badge, C Service Deployment Ribbon (with one star), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Southwest Asia Service Medal (with two stars). He loved his job at the Utah Veteran Affairs as an Internet Technology Specialist Supervisor. He made charitable contributions to The Humane Society of Utah (cat house), and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. He is survived by wife, Tracy Begay, daughters, Makahla (Ian) Engelhard, Bethine, Tahya, and Alyssa, brothers, Chad, Larry, and Eric Begay, and pets Ellie (cat), Padawan (Cat), and Snips (ferret). He is preceded in death by his parents and pet Max (ferret). Visitation will be held at 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at Tate Mortuary on Thursday, July 1, 2021.
