Our beloved Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, Armando T. Martinez, age 93, returned home to Jesus on February 15, 2010. Armando was received with open arms by our Lord, along with his wife Dora, his daughter Louise and sons John and Phillip. Armando was born in Taos, New Mexico on March 6, 1916 to Flavio Martinez and Ursula Martinez. He had 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He married the love of his life Dora Baca on October 11, 1937. It was love at first sight! They were married for 69 years. They had 8 children. Armando worked at Deseret Chemical Depot and Tooele Army Depot for 35 years. He came to Utah in 1942 seeking work. Armando and Dora happily settled in Tooele County where they made their home and raised all their children. Dad was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater in the U.S. Navy. Dad served with the highly decorated Seabees aboard the U.S.S. Baltimore. Dad was a lifetime member of Tooele VFW Post #1998. He was a Tooele County resident for 68 years. Dad will be truly missed by all who knew him. He made friends easily and never knew a stranger. He was such a good example to follow. He left a great legacy and foundation of love and respect for his family. He was kind and generous too all. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Marguerite's Parish in Tooele. Armando was preceded in death by his parents, all his brothers and sisters, wife Dora, sons John (Judy) and Phillip and daughter Louise Lamoreaux. He is survived by his sons Robert (Debbie) Martinez of St. George, UT, Pat (Gail) Martinez of Sandy, UT. Daughters Christine Hartung of Diamond Bar, CA, Elaine (Joe-Deceased) Fischer of Birmingham, AL, and Carla (Jan) Camp of Vancouver, WA, 15 Grandchildren and 26 Great-Grandchildren. A visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 19th from 10:00 - 10:45 am at St. Marguerite's. Rosary will be from 10:45 - 11:00, followed by mass at 11:00.
