John Blaine Powell passed away peacefully at home due to natural causes on January 12, 2020. He was born to B. Grant Powell and S. Melba Powell in Price, Utah in 1939. When he was 12 years old the family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. He went to East High School and served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States Mission from 1960 to 1962. He served in the US Army and later in the US Air Force Reserves. He left the service and worked as a ticket agent for Bonanza Airlines. In about 1965 Blaine caught the bug of large diesel trucks and the open road. He met Carolyn Rosvall through her aunt Ella. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple in the Summer of 1966. Blaine bought his first truck in 1967 and started his own trucking company. He had a love of trucks and the open road. He went all over the United States in his nearly 47 years of truck driving and traveling more than 5 million miles. He hauled every kind of product that can be imagined in his driving career. His favorite trucks were his blue 1979 Kenworth W900A model and his 1984 tan Peterbilt Glider kit that he had built. He taught us hard work and a love for putting in a good day of work. Blaine is survived by his wife Carolyn, three sons and one daughter, and 2 younger brothers. He has a total of 9 grandchildren. We will be having a graveside service with close family and friends on January 17, 2020. He will be interred in the Tooele City Cemetery near his mother and father.\n\nTo send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of John Blaine Powell please visit our Sympathy Store.
