Madelynn Sullivan Obituary (2012)

1915 ~ 2012 Madelynn May (Elton) Sullivan passed away at Hospice Care facility in Surprise, AZ . on Thursday June 21, 2012. Madeylynn was born to Samuel Fairchild Elton and Lily May DuBois in Genola, Utah, March 16, 1915. She married John Sheldon Sullivan Oct. 5,1934 at Provo, Ut. Marriage was later solemnized on Feb 27th ,1954 in the Manti Temple. Madelynn grew up on a ranch her dad owned near Utah Lake. Sheldon worked there for 7 yrs waiting for Madelynn to be old enough to marry," as the "story goes"...... Madelynn was often referred to as "Sully" in her many years at the Tooele Army Depot and her participation at the Tooele Bit &Spur with Sheldon. Madelynn loved church and possessed a deep faith. She served in many church positions. She was a visiting teacher for over 50 yrs. She went back often, each month, until she found her sisters home, even in her later years. Madelynn loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Many of them experienced many fun and exciting trips with the grandparents to "horse" centered activities and their "Christmas" gathering was always the best!! Madelynn was a great cook and you couldn't visit her home without being fed. She was known for calling and checking on all her siblings and children almost everyday. Madelynn has been a great example of charity and "love for family". She will be greatly missed by all her children and their families and those her knew her; and dearly loved forever. She was preceeded in death by her husband John Sheldon Sullivan and nine siblings. Madelynn is survived by four children Terry (Helen) Sullivan,Illinois; O'Neil Sullivan, Montana; Joy (Robert) Hunter AZ, and Linda (Judson) Kidwell, WA. Sixteen grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren.
